The 3 types of luck and how does vastu enhances them

Chinese philosophy specifically mentions three types of luck which influences the success and growth of an individual; earth luck, heaven’s luck and man’s luck.

Once you understand them you will agree that indeed this is what happens in life.

Heaven’s luck is the effect of past karmas on your present life. 40% of the luck we have comes from Heaven. This means our Heavenly Blessings or the good fortune we have created from the past (our past actions and deeds create good fortune) – which accumulates to become the luck we have now. The past karmas decide which family we will be born in and what date and time we will be born. In astrology we understand this as planetary influences on our life.

Earth’s Luck is the influence of our environment on our life. 30% of luck we have comes from earth. These are earth and nature’s energies and space energies effecting our life. These energies help you create a success or a prosperity mindset. In Vastu we understand is the effect of the five elements on our lives.

Man’s Luck is the remaining luck on which we have total control. It is the decisions we make, the choices we take and the actions we perform to achieve the goals of our life. The English proverb – “Work is worship” and the famous Shloka from Bhagwat Gita -  “कर्मणये वाधिकारस्ते मां फलेषु कदाचन । मां कर्मफलहेतुर्भू: मांते संङगोस्त्वकर्मणि emphasis the importance of this type of luck. You cannot and you will not be achieve any objective in life without the required efforts irrespective of what you do in Astrology and Vastu.

Many people ask me then what is Vastu and Astrology for? And I answer, “Vastu and Astrology are to act as a catalyst in your efforts. Their role is to support you, program your sub-conscious to lead you to the right decisions and right actions. That is exactly why several successful people believe and have used such metaphysical sciences in their life. They do not leave everything to destiny, they also strive to achieve their dreams.

The attached diagram explains my understanding of this three luck phenomenon, spend some time reflecting on it.

Diwali Special || 5 Days of Wish fulfillment

In our Vedic culture 5 days from Dhan teras to Bhai dooj are considered very auspicious to achieve desired results. This year they are falling between 17-October 2017 to 21-Oct-2017.

Besides the Lakshmi Pujan and other Puja that you do every year as per your family traditions, you may also do one or more of the following rituals:

  1. ·        For continuous prosperity – start from 17th Oct’2017 Dhan teras to Bhai dooj. Take a piece of camphor, one laung and one big ilayachi (black cardamom). Burn it in earthen diya in worship area and also chant “SHRIM” for 108 times sitting there.
  2. ·        To get desired job/ promotion/ clients – Take kaccha sut (sacred white thread), janeu), sprinkle some turmeric powder over it and few drops of water and make this thread Yellow thread. Now take 21 big ilayachi and create a beautiful garland for lord Lakshminarayan with this yellow thread and 21 big ilayachi. Offer this garland to lord on during Lakshmi Pujan.
  3. ·        Make kheer (pudding of rice and milk) on Diwali day to offer to Lord LakshmiNarayan. This Prasad should be consumed by only family members.
  4. ·        To get forever wealth worship Ma Lakshmi with lord Narayan together. Astrologically Ma Lakshmi is Venus means maya and we can control this maya only by intelligence which is represented by Lord Vishnu. Both Lakshmi Narayan should be seated on Garuda. That picture is perfect for worship. Garuda is a vehicle of Narayan. When Lord Vishnu was in Ram avatar and during fight with Ravan days. Lord Ram and Lakshman  were entangled in “Naag pash” by Meghnad. That time Garuda cut the ties of snakes and let Lord get free from nag pash. So Garuda got blessing from Lord Ram to help us to untie the karmic bondage.
  5. ·        On the night of Diwali (19-10-2017)  chant as many times as you can any Lakshmi mantra or shree sukta. “. These are two powerful Lakshmi Mantras.
  6. ·        Always do prayer in present continuous form. Future tense always stay in future. For example wish “With your blessings my Lord and Mother Lakshmi, I am rich and wealthy” in place of “I want to be rich and wealthy”
  7. ·        If you feel stagnant in career growth – Buy one lock with keys before 17th October. On 19th October – Diwali day take this lock with keys at any churaha and keep it there and return to home. Note – Do not check lock how it works by opening it and also don’t allow shopkeeper to show its functioning by opening it. You need to just purchase locked (close) with keys and drop it. Rest let the Universe do.
  8. ·        Try to keep the ladies of the house – mother, wife and daughter happy in these five days especially. They represent Venus. If they are sad due to any reason, no remedy can give fruitful results.
  9. ·        Offer white flower  (Mogra or kevda) itra to Lord Lakshmi Narayan in these five days. You can also use these but in that case use two separate bottles. One for Lord and one for you.  I pray to Lord lakshmiNarayan to bless you with Health, Wealth, peace, Harmony and all your desires get fulfilled.

These remedies are specially designed by Astrologer Upma Shrivastava for her clients. With her permission I have posted them here on my blog. For astrological and numerology consultation she can be contacted through AstroYogi.com or AstroSpeak.com

The Asymmetry of Nature

Nature is asymmetrical. Have you seen a mountain which is same on all sides – a perfect cone? Have you seen a river which flows in a straight line? Or a perfectly symmetric tree?

The earth is tilted to one side and revolves around the sun in an elliptical motion. Had it been vertical and revolving in a circle we would not experience seasons and we would not have the beauty of having summer during summers in certain parts of the world. The asymmetry is what brings dynamism.  Nature is dynamic and it keeps changing itself. Symmetry results in a static world. That is why most natural things are asymmetric. Nature has its own way to decide between symmetry and asymmetry.

Yet we strive for symmetry and why is it so? Symmetry is the property of the logical and scientific mind. A logical mind strives for perfection. Perfection leads to constant and constant is static. No amount of evolution can happen with a static because any change requires dynamism. When the mind is illogical can evolution happen. All innovations happen with an illogical mind specially at the level of hypothesis. It is only when the hypothesis is tested on experimentations does the logical mind takes control of the invention and the world recognizes it as a scientific discovery or an invention.

This is what we mean when we talk about “Eureka” moment.

There are several concepts which are yet not proven scientifically and yet they exist as if they are laws. The behavior of the sub-conscious mind is one such phenomenon. In fact, there has been no device discovered which can see the sub-conscious or the conscious mind forget about locating it in the part of the body. When we can see through scientific devices is the brain and the nervous system. But is that the mind? We cannot be so sure.

The Hindu model of Universe explains these concepts wonderfully and is captured beatifically by our ancient sages in Sankhya Darshan (Indian Metaphysics). Everything in Indian philosophy finds its roots in metaphysics.

Fortunately, there is a renewed interest in metaphysics and a lot of work is happening. Many concepts and processes which were not possible to be explained through conventional science are now being explained through metaphysics.

I believe Vastu and Astrology are two important pillars of metaphysics and with time these will be brought into the realm of science once they are fully explained using metaphysics

Vastu Myth- Employees should not sit on the head

Yesterday I was sitting with a leading realtor in India. He is renovating his plush office in Gurgaon.

The office has two floors. On the ground floor the management will sit and on the mezzanine floor it will be the staff. Over a cup of tea he asked, “Please clear one doubt Manoj ji. Some Vastu expert told me that staff should not sit on the floor above. It is like they sitting on your head. Should I be bothered about it?”

“Bhai ji, If anyone has said this from a vastu perspective it is totally a myth. It does not affect the Vastu of the place at all. The right zones for the right profile is all that matters irrespective if the management is on the lower floor or the employees.”

Having said that, across the world there is a best practice. The Managing Director or CEO of the floor sits on the top floor. Why is it so? The CEO or MD or Chairman has to be the least accessible to the outside world. If there are miscreants who enter a premises the CEO must be the most difficult to reach. That is what top floor and corner office is what is the best practice for placing the CEO. There is a practical reason and not just a status symbol.

So it is not Vastu when someone says that employees should not sit on the heads of the management

AstroGraph of MS Dhoni Signature

MS Dhoni signs his name as “Mahi” an abbreviation for Mahendra and Dhoni. This is also the name with which his friends fondly call him.

Some notable features in his signature are as follows:
  1. Lot of oval curves in his signature signifying Moon.
  2. Thin and Long Characters signifying Sun
  3. A large M in the signature denotes Jupiter
  4. The line below the signature like a sword denotes Mars
  5. The position of the dot above i and the small last letter indicating Saturn. Note the position of the dot exactly above the “i”.

Now let us analyze how these planets effect MS Dhoni’s traits and qualities. Sun gives him leadership qualities and we all know he is the most successful cricket captain India has ever had. He catapulted India to the #1 Test team and under his captainship Indian team won the world cups in both the shorter forms of the game – T20 and 50:50. In his horoscope Sun is placed in ascendant – A person born to lead

Moon gives him wealth and along with Sun; wealth accumulated from own hands (literally). He earned all his wealth from him dexterity behind the stumps and in front of it. He is by far the richest cricketer due to his big ticket endorsements over the years and his businesses.

Jupiter gives him leadership status and captaincy besides giving him wealth.

Now coming to the most important planet Mars, which is a commander in astrology parlance. As a captain Dhoni used to destroy the opposition with his war strategies. Mars also makes him the best finisher. In his signature the end line signifies that he ensures that the task at hand is finished to his satisfaction

That leaves us with one more planet, Saturn. Look at his eyes (in the picture attached) do you see an extremely focussed person. Well that is Saturn in him.

Dear Readers, that was my favorite cricketer analyzed for you using astro-graphology.

Astro-Numero analysis of PV Sindhu’s Signature

Before going to the numerology of PV Sindhu let us analyze her signature. As can be seen from the sign they are completely illegible. Unless you know that these signatures belong to her, you will not be able to make out what she has written while signing. Small letters (specially ‘n’) and illegible signatures are two distinct features in the signature.

Small letters signify Saturn and illegible writing symbolizes Rahu. Numerologically, Rahu is represented by Number 4 and Saturn by number 8. The third planet which is predominant in her signature is Jupiter seen by the large “S” at the start of her signature.

Rahu represents attention and Saturn represents focus, hard work and commitment, two features which makes her tick in her game. Focus allows her to make a comeback in the sets. She is a great fighter who believes in herself. She dreams big.

We do not have a reliable source on her time of birth, we only have her date of birth as it appears on
Wikipedia, - 5-July-1995. As per this her birth number is 5 and life path number is 9.

Before we get into further numerological study for her let us see few facts
  1. She broke into the Top 20 of World rankings when she was 17 years old (1+7=8)
  2. In 2015 she received “Padma Shri” (2+0+1+5=8)
  3. She reached highest ranking of “2nd Seed” on 4-April-2017
  4. In 2008, a correspondent in “The Hindu” wrote – “The fact that she reports on time at the coaching camps daily, travelling a distance of 56 km from her residence, is perhaps a reflection of her willingness to complete her desire to be a good badminton player with the required hard work and commitment.” – a clear property of Saturn personality

Now as per her birth day we see that her birth number is 5 and life path number is 9 while numbers 4 and 8 are frequently reflected in her life. Why is that so?

As per the numerology we practice, we have found that if the birth of the individual is before sunrise and after midnight e.g. 12:30 AM, 4:45 AM, etc. the birth number should be of the previous day. Please note that I am guessing that she was born in the wee hours of 5th July 1995 and so taking 4-7-1995 as her date of birth the numbers 4 and 8 fall into place.

Lord Ganesha and Vastu

On August 25, 2017, the world will celebrate the birth anniversary of Lord Ganesha, the most favorite God of Indians. Millions of people will welcome Lord Ganesha in their homes and pray to him to give them prosperity, peace and harmony in their lives.

Lord Ganesha figurines (or statues) are also the favorite gifts of Indians to give to their near and dear ones during auspicious occasions like Diwali, wedding, house warming, etc. This results in Lord Ganesha being used as a décor and His figurines are placed in different rooms and on different walls as a décor.

Vastu does not suggest that Gods and Goddesses be placed anywhere other than the Puja room. However, the recipients of these gifts are in a dilemma as regards to their placement as many of them are made of material which is not suited for worship like resin and fiber.

In such a case we should look at the statue in terms of its symbolism and form. Lord Ganesha is the God of knowledge and wealth and is also known as a remover of obstacles.

With this vastu symbolism in mind, place the figurine of the Lord in the North (facing South) to fulfill your desires, in the center to harness your skills and in the zone of knowledge i.e. area between West and South West for a sharp memory

May Lord Ganesha bless you this Ganesha Chaturthi

Plant trees in your house as per Vastu

Several people ask me what trees can be planted in the courtyard of home. I researched to know what does the scriptures say.

Matasya Puran in Chapter 255  answers this question as follows:

One should plant Bargad (Banyan) tree in East, gular tree/atti tree (cluster fig) in South, Peepal in West and Pakad tree in North.

In case these trees are planted in wrong directions and it is not possible to cut them you should plant one or more of the following trees to gain overall prosperity and harmony

Ashoka tree (this is not Polyalthia longifolia which the nursery will try to sell you as Ashoka, ask them for original ashoka tree), Moulsari/Bakul, Pomegranade, kewda, chameli, coconut tree, banana tree, chameli tree and Champa (Plumeria).

Planting these trees will bring in overall prosperity and balance in your life.

In case the trees are planted wrongly for example if bargad is in North in place of East, plant one or more of the following trees along with bargad to bring in overall success.

1. Ashoka
2. Moulashri/Bakul
3. Pomegranade
4. Kewda
5. Banana /Kela
6. Chameli
7. Champa

A note on Ashoka tree and False Ashoka tree - . Ashoka trees are small in height, while false ashoka is taller.

Ashoka flowers are red (initially orange in color) while False Ashoka flowers are apple green in color. Ashoka fruits look like broad beans containing multiple seeds while false ashoka fruits are small, spherical and contain only one seed

How Planets reflect in body shape and expressions?

When I saw Ishant Sharma celebrating after taking the prize wicket of Charles in the India-West Indies match held on July 5, 2013 it reminded me of a roaring lion as you can see in the image above. Suddenly, as per the Numerology learning from my guru, it stuck me that Ishant Sharma must be having one of his numero-trident based on Sun. I immediately looked up in Wikipedia for his birth day which I found is September 2, 1988. His supporting number comes out to 1 and his mental power is 2. As can also be seen in the picture below he wears a jersey with a number 1 and his signatures reflect the number 2 (Moon).

For me it was an interesting observation which reinforces my understanding of numerology and a practical application of “observation” helping in correlating numerology with body shape and expressions. Ishant Sharma is an embodiment of number 1 from his appearance – he is lean, tall and lanky.

If a number (or its associated planet) is clearly visible in a persona either through face, body, hair, eyes, walk, hand writing then strengthening that number through numerology will increase the positive attributes associated with that number and benefit the person.

What should be the height of Pooja Deities (Home Altar)?

This is a common question which keeps bothering us as most of the times we do not find anyone who can give a proper answer to it.

During my last Vastu related visit to Chennai, I had the good fortune to visit Mahabalipuram, the town of great sculptors and meet Sthapati R. Ravindran who has to his credit sculpted several deities in temples across South East Asia.

During the interactions someone asked him about the size of the statue of Gods we place in the home altar (Pooja room).

He said, “As per Vedic texts, when you place an idol at home for worship, it should not be more than the size of one mushti.” He further explained that the pedestal and crown of the deity is not to be considered.”

One mushti is the the length including the width of the palm and the length of the thumb fully extended (This is shown in the figure attached).

Any idol which is bigger than the mushti as explained above should be placed in a proper temple and not at homes.
