Yesterday I was sitting with a leading realtor in India. He
is renovating his plush office in Gurgaon.
The office has two floors. On the
ground floor the management will sit and on the mezzanine floor it will be the
staff. Over a cup of tea he asked, “Please clear one doubt Manoj ji. Some Vastu
expert told me that staff should not sit on the floor above. It is like they
sitting on your head. Should I be bothered about it?”
“Bhai ji, If anyone has said this from a vastu perspective
it is totally a myth. It does not affect the Vastu of the place at all. The
right zones for the right profile is all that matters irrespective if the
management is on the lower floor or the employees.”
Having said that, across the world there is a best practice.
The Managing Director or CEO of the floor sits on the top floor. Why is it so?
The CEO or MD or Chairman has to be the least accessible to the outside world.
If there are miscreants who enter a premises the CEO must be the most difficult
to reach. That is what top floor and corner office is what is the best practice
for placing the CEO. There is a practical reason and not just a status symbol.
So it is not Vastu when someone says that employees should
not sit on the heads of the management
