Once you recognize the symptoms of poverty consciousness and
realize that you are demonstrating those symptoms it becomes very easy to get
rid of them and move towards prosperity consciousness.
Most of the people in this world when they stay in a hotel
stuff the toothpaste, lotions, and shampoos in their bags before check out.
This does not happen only with people from a particular country but is a global
phenomenon. A survey was conducted internationally and hotel owners from Europe
and Americas have reported that their guests have robbed them with mattresses,
televisions, iron, electric kettles, paintings, etc. I was really surprised
when I read it. I mean how guests can take away mattresses without the hotel
knowing about it. But believe it or not this is the truth.
Why do people behave this way? The reason is simple, they want
to maximize on the tariffs they have paid to the hotel. In their minds this is
just value for money or worse still they feel that the hotel is anyways running
on huge profits which itself is a crime and robbing them of whatever they can
is a way to get back to them for their crimes (profits). Very few people
realize that most big hotels operate at wafer thin margins and even if they do
earn good profits it is the fruit of the huge investments they have made.
The fact is that this behavior stems out of poverty
consciousness. How can someone who does not appreciate other person’s wealth
and profit be able to generate the same for oneself?
The other reason is the mindset of scarcity. What if we go
to a hotel in future where they do not furnish a soap in the bathrooms? We
should stuff this in the bags for such situations.
I know it is a touchy subject but if you display such
behavior just recognize it as that of poverty consciousness. This acceptance in
itself will move you towards prosperity consciousness.
