Ways to tap your sub-conscious mind

Indian saints from centuries knew the power of the sub-conscious mind and ways to tap into this power. They also knew that the biggest challenge in reaching the sub-conscious is the conscious mind.

Sage Patanjali in his epic book – Patanjali Yog Sutras has recommended meditation or mindfulness as the first step to reach your sub-conscious. When you meditate simply by focusing on the gap between the two breaths gradually you reach a meditative state. Modern science has deduced that in this state your brain frequency is 7-8 cycles/second which is also called the alpha state. When you are in alpha state of mind your conscious mind is almost asleep and now you can communicate with the sub-conscious.

The other method is to confuse the sub-conscious mind or fool it in a way that it no longer stops your access to the sub-conscious. While this method too was known to the sages in India and abroad, it has been researched by modern hypnotherapists and psychiatrists. The California Institute of Hypnosis has developed a method wherein they use a script to confuse the conscious mind forcing it to give up. Once that happens the subject is in a hypnotic trance and now the hypnotist can feed positive affirmations to his sub-conscious thereby changing its programming.

The reason why I say that ancient Indian saints knew about this “confusion of the mind” technique is a story about Rishi Valmiki. Rishi Valmiki was a dacoit in his earlier life before Sage Narada advised him to chant “Mara..Mara...” repeatedly to attain enlightenment. Sage Narada realized that with his dacoit mindset he is finding it difficult to chant “Rama…Rama…”  hence he was asked to chant the opposite.

Rihsi Valmiki chanted as advised with full trust and eventually got the enlightenment. Though his conscious mind understood the chant as “Mara..Mara..” his sub-conscious understood it as “Rama…Rama…”  The Rishi subsequently had the good fortune to take care of Ma Sita and train Lord Ram’s sons when they were young.

This is an ideal example on how the conscious can be fooled to reach the sub-conscious

AstroVastu Analysis of MasterCard Brand

MasterCard changed its logo in July 2016 after more than 35 years.  Though the two intersecting circles of the original logo were maintained, change in fonts and placement were incorporated. The intersection earlier had red stripes in yellow background and the same has been replaced by orange color.

The basic shape of the mastercard symbol is the age old universal symbol representing evolution – vesica piscis (pronounced as veh-see-kuh pis-sis).

Vesica piscis is a symbol dating beyond Christianity and has always denoted feminine energy. It is formed by the intersection of two congruent disks, each centered on the perimeter of the other. This is a universal symbol and can be seen in Greek, Egyptian, Tibetan and Indian iconography. Euclid has used the symbol in geometry to draw an equilateral triangle.

Earlier, in the MasterCard logo, the words “Master Card” were written inside the two intersecting circles with “M” and “C” in capitals. One of the most significant change which has happened in the new logo is that now the words are placed below the circles and in small letters. Their CMO said we wanted to round off the letters denoting change.

In astrology, rounded fonts are representative of moon which also signifies water. An alternate currency like Master Card should be as fluid and flexible as water. Thereby, the change of fonts also conforms to astrological significance. In these days with newer and newer techniques like near-field-communication and new security measures being incorporated it was important for the marketing team to incorporate the message of evolution, change, flexibity into the brand. Immediately after the re-brand exercise, the company’s chief marketing and communications officer Raja Rajamannar said, “…First and foremost, we want people to know that our company is evolving. Evolving alongside them. The trust, convenience and security they have come to know when using Mastercard remains, and at the same time we are innovating and advancing for the future. One of the subtle changes was to lowercase the “C” in card, as a visual cue to de-emphasize how we are not just a card or a piece of plastic in your wallet.

Besides the use of vesica piscis, which is a sacred geometry symbol and sacred geometry is an integral part of architecture, the choice of colors red, yellow and orange also has vastu significance. 

In Vastu Red and orange represent Fire which is the main energy required for cash flow and execution. In my view, the colors red and orange were chosen to show that it is a replacement of traditional currency and you can execute any monetary transaction using the card. Similarly, yellow is the color of Earth element in Vastu, denoting stability and trust. Perhaps the designers wanted to show that the brand is stable and hence trustworthy.

The question now arises, did the designers have the perspective of astrology and vastu when designing the logo? Maybe no, but what it definitely communicates is that a mapping can definitely be done as vastu and astrology are in conformance with the already laid down principles of design.
